i am on the brink of bankruptcy, well, as always...
with christmas and council farewell ard the corner, i guess i'll have to starve myself until chinese new year before i can have more than the bare minimum or less in my wallet.
today i had welfare meeting and it was really fast. the sec2s did great proposals, way above my expectations (well done sec2s!), and then we cleaned up the council room, as ordered by andrew...after which we (me, soo hwee and andrew) rotted in the council room waiting for nic to finish her ed den we could go to TM to buy presents. while rotting, we played bridge with huimin and then zhaoxiang.
i went to tm and den after lunch we set out on our business of gift buying. we had to buy farewell presents for the welfare seniors and had to buy the christmas presents also. times like this u wished u din have so many frens. haha. (jaz jk) i dunno how much i spent, well actually i do, but im jaz not gg to post it. anwz, i can feel the money flying away...
wonder if the guy who came up with the idea of gift giving was someone who was really lacking bdae gifts...dont get me wrong here, it's not that i dont lyk giving gifts, i jaz dont lyk paying for them...haha. however, i have come to a conclusion that giving is really a feeling that is jaz as good as giving, if not better? u feel happy when ur fren or family member's face lights up when he/she receives a present and well, they say money cant buy u happiness, well, go buy a gift and give it to somebody and u will feel happy, really.
admist all the card-writing, gift-buying and stuff, im sitting back to think on why we buy gifts during christmastime. the most obvious reason is because Jesus Himself was a gift from God. such was the greatness and importance of this gift, that history was split into two, the time Before Christ and After the birth of Christ. a baby was born two thousand years ago in Bethelehem, a baby who was going to start a powerful ministry that saw the healing of sickness of multitudes of people, a ministry that touched and changed millions of lives, a baby that was born to grow up to be a fine man of 33 1/2 years old only to die a painful and gruesome death on the cross. researchers said that Jesus was probably so tortured that his flesh was ripped off and all his major organs could be seen. and that the way he was hanging was probably exerting so much pressure that he could not breathe. and to add to the pain, vinegar was poured all over him, according to the Bible. if u happen to have a cut, try pouring vinegar over it, u will scream in pain. and Jesus din have just a cut. he had ripped flesh, nails driven in his hand and feet, and thorns stuck in His head. what agony. we often see pictures of a serene-looking Jesus hanging on the cross lyk it was really no kick, but it was at that point of time where all the sin of mankind, past present and future were lain upon Him. he, a holy God, never the least bit tarnished by sins of any kind now had massive sin upon Him and it was so great that even His Father, God, turned away from Him at that moment. can u imagine ur Father turning away from u even tho u did no wrong? Yet He said: forgive them, for they no not what they do
death is one thing, but the very reason why Jesus is the only God that i serve is because He rose again 3 days after His death. He was resserected! alive again! and the Bible says that when the devil thought that He had won and all humanity was going to rot in hell with him, Jesus stormed the gates of hell and took the keys of Hell from the devil and now He has victory over death.
