today was another shopping escapade. this time the location of choice is bugis junction. the objective, to get presents for as many people as possible that fit within my meagre budget.
well, it wasnt really meagre, i had 60dollars to spend, thanks to mum who sponsored me 50dollars. well actually it was supposed to be a loan but, well, parents dont remember such things.
well, this morning i had cds comm meeting discussing abt debrief for drama camp and orientation. i saw the sec2s ju today, it wasnt really up to expectations (sorry sec2s...)but im sure they can do better. lao ban changed the ju today and they're doing something else, and im sure it will be really good.
later me, alicia, jason, wenqi, megan and yeokseng met cheng you at the mrt station den we went to the bugis foodcourt to eat. it was there i saw sth that made me quite mad. there was the rather well-to-do-looking lady queing up behind me in the nasi padang line when her dainty little foot, unfortunately got rolled over by the cleaning trolley that the old cleaning lady was pushing. she got so pisssed that she said sth tat i din quite hear properly and she seemed lyk that was smoke that was coming out of her ears and she was lyk damn pissed lah. the old lady said sorry and looked really apolegetic and she said sorry so many times and the well-to-do-looking-lady was still pissed. even after she left the well-to-do-looking lady was lyk still pissing abt it to her son and she couldnt drop the matter. she said some words that made the old lady seem lyk a dirty garbage bag. reflecting on this, i guess Singaporeans do need some hardcore education on how to treat other people better. Humanitarian Education. while we are famous for emptying our Christian Dior purses ralph lauren wallets to donate to those poor people in Indonesia or China or wherever who "dont have enough food and toys", and sitting on our plush designer couches dialling on our nokias, sony erricsons and motorolas and for the more well off, vertus, to donate to those poor people who need ur kind phone call donations that "make a difference", how charitable are we in real life. what exactly is charity?
how do we treat our fellow human beings, especially those who work in a dirtier environment, say gasp! the service industry! instead of sitting in air-conditioned offices typing on my lcd screen computer and sipping coffee from my gold-plated mug. lyk how the old lady was treated was the perfect example of the ugly singaporean. i mean, she apologised so profusely oredi, couldnt u jaz drop it? lyk she's sorry she "dirtied" ur Zara top by helping u clean it (ironically...) and im sure it was an imitation top. and after she left u're still pissing abt it to ur son in the nasi padang line in earshot of practically every one within a 10m radius of ur mouth. no wonder they worry abt the next generation, because one generation grew up without being worried abt and turned up lyk this. of coz this is jaz a generalization...
the thing is, we should revise how we treat others, esp cleaners. they are the noblest people in the workforce if u ask me. who keeps the toilets u pay 10cents for and complain abt the price clean so that u can use it without having to sniff the aroma of the waste of the person who had previously used that cubicle. who cleans the leftover food that u leave on the table after you've eating a morsel and decide u're full (and u complain abt the toilet charge), who sweeps the roads clean and tidy so that u dont have to contend with the sheer horror of seeing a DEAD FROG who accidentally got run over last night by a drunk driver on ur way to the interchange or mrt.
it's sickening how other people who are drawing a lower salary are not seen as equals. our attitude towards foreign workers is worse. without fail we'll read abt maid abuse and people who dont even go to a place where there is a bangladeshi worker.
so much for cosmopolitian city...
however, Jesus died for all, regardless of race, language or religion.
yah that's rite. ALL. and he died painfully (read previous post). he died for you and me.
Thank you God, that you love everyone. the rich businessman who sleeps with a different woman each night, the tai-tai who gambles away thousands a day over the mahjong table, the fat kid who stuffs himself with chocolates night and day, the guy sho cheats in exams, the cleaning auntie, the bus driver, everyone.
Jesus loves the little children,
all the children of the world,
red and yellow black and white,
all are precious in His sight,
Jesus loves the little children of the world.
