originally i had wanted to go on this massive jc open house spree. friday, together with hoyan, kelly and junie, we had planned on going to RJ, TJ and MJ. we went to rj with hari, nicole and huiyi and then to tj, but then i was like super tired and so i passed on mj. (it just occured to me that mj is oso michael jackson's initials! lol. i noe, random...) saturday, i wanted to go to vj and sa open house, but in the end i decided to do the painting of the youth room and passed on sa open house...
so here's a little breakdown on the three jcs that i went to: rj, vj, tj
RAFFLES JUNIOR COLLEGE
i never had a good impression of rjc. possibly due to the fact that i never had a good impression of its sister schools, ri and rgs. but when i went to the open house, i was really impressed. rjc smacks of excellence and you can really see the sparkle in their eyes and when they talk, it's like WHOA~ bombastic words to the max. i thought that i had a good command of english, but when i went there, they were using words like 'mavericks', which kind of impressed me. ok, really impressed me. rjc people are really intelligent and are truly the cream of the cream of the crop. something about its elitism really attracts me. the cons? it's far, its standard is very high and the school culture is a stark contrast from what im used to in ahs. also, the school fees are massive to say the least. at $322 a month, it's the most expensive jc in singapore along with hwachong. but rj is really impressive and very attractive to me. among the three, rj is the one that really attracted me the most. but i know if i go there, it will require alot of sacrifice in terms of time and also, i will have to get used to a brand new school culture...
TEMASEK JUNIOR COLLEGE
Tj is just so totally friendly. the second you enter the school, you get people greeting you with this 1000MegaWatt smile and they really feel so happy to see you there. another plus point of tj is that ahs is just so prevalent there. tjc feels like an expanded version of ah, except it's bigger, better and all the more funkier. i see no reason why i should not go to tj, except that it's old and less prestigious than the other two. but it just feels SO FRIENDLY. every corner you see a familiar face, whether it's a senior from AH, or some primary school friend checking out the open house or a friend who went to TJC's IP...tjc is just brimming with the personal touch, something that was sorely lacking in the other two...it feels like a second home, even though i have no connection to tj at all. it just seems so familiar, possibly because my mother, half my cousins, a church friend, countless seniors and IP friends are there. that's the major attraction to tj.
VICTORIA JUNIOR COLLEGE
my no 1 choice for a long time until nicole psychoed me about going to vj. seriously, vj is a good school. school spirit? check. good principal? check. (i think) prestige? check. substantial ahs presence there? check. near to home and church? check. good academic results? check. good cca performance? check. there is just NO REASON why i should not go to vj. but there is this very irritating factor called "the voice at the back of the head" that is nagging at me that vj is not the place for me. why? tell me why? ok, the school is small, but it's at a nice location. the people look very happening. but the feeling on the ground is that vj is not what it seems to be. on the surface, it looks very happening and like all the students are crazy over the school but some seniors dont really have good comments about the school. but vj is like really good...
so that's the breakdown. how? tell me what to choose...
