before grad nite per se, lets talk about the preparation. i basically scoured just about every established shopping joint in the central and east of singapore to find the nicest yet cheapest clothes. here's a rundown of where i went: anson centre(tanjong pagar), bugis junction, bugis street, far east plaza, wisma atria, ngee ann city, heeren, white sands, eastpoint, tampines mall, marina square, suntec city, citylink mall, and raffles city. alot rite?
oh well, finally i got my outfit out, i must say that im quite pleased with it, though i feel a little guilty for spending so much money. not just on clothes and the dinner, but also accesories, the hair and cabfare. which equates to a lot of money spent on one grad nite alone. i guess it's sort of worth it, coz it was a memorable night. while i must say i was expecting this year's grad nite to be a little less energetic than last year's, but i suppose i underestimated my fellow sec fours. while not many people opted to dye their hair. there were notable exceptions, particularly chin meng and yong quan who went for the all gold look. which was really nice. other nice hairs included alicia's, sok shin's, cherine's and junie's. and while the clothes weren't as over the top as last year's, this year's saw some creativity. those who deserved a mention were: daniel, with his justin timberlake-inspired outfit, marcus' suspenders and flowers, sok shin's all gold gown, jason's ah beng look and hari and chin meng's three-piece classics. NICE.
everyone was looking very grown-up and mature. it was as though we had all grown up and become adults, albeit very youthful-looking ones. hairstyles were changed and elaborate gowns and suits were donned. i suppose everybody looked good tonight. it got me thinking, do we really want to grow up so fast? do we really want to wear adult clothes and all that stuff? i guess we do. everyone wants to grow up, fast. me too. but i guess i just dont want to let go, or move on to something else. but after tonight, i learnt a very valuable lesson, GROW UP NOAH! so i guess i will grow up and look forward to jc life.
btw, congrats to hari for getting prom king, huiyi for prom queen and shyang long and yulan for best couple. great job guys! this year's programme was like much more entertaining. other awards included most dazzling smile won by benjamin chia and shi yu; best hairstyle won by yongquan and tingting and best outfit by a council duo: daniel and sok shin. talking about sok shin, she won a PSP!!! i wanted that PSP!!! and i wanted to win an mp3 player oso, but i guess it was just not meant to be...oh well, some people just get all the luck...
the dancing was off the hook. somehow i couldnt find any motivation to dance, so i stayed wooden wandering among the tables and taking photos with other ppl. the dancing was super rocking. before the grad nite, i didnt think that sec fours 06 would dare to go up and dance. but when the time came, it wasnt too difficult to get the ball rolling. within 5 minutes, there were people crowding the stage and the dance floor dancing to the music. it was madness. i just wish i had enough "highness" to dance with them. but i suppose im not the dancing type, so why be someone else?
i wonder what my friends will turn out to be like in five years time? will they be the same, just like in sec one? will they become different? will the more quiet and reserved ones become party animals? will the crazed nuts now become conserved and demure? will they be succesful men and women in their fields? will they be cassanovas or will they be devoted? will they develop a great sense of fashion or will they still wear billabongs and roxys?
i guess the answer is that every single one will change. for better or for worse, that is not up to me to decide, or judge, for that matter...but i do hope that friendships remain and i do pray that every one will find the ultimate happiness and joy and that everybody will be successful people.
ALL THE BEST SEC FOURS! THE WORLD IS YOUR OYSTER, GO OUT AND CONQUER IT!
